New Requirements for Vehicles Registered from Third Countries in Latvia
2025 01 10From January 1, 2025, only those vehicles registered in third countries that have been declared in Latvia's electronic system VAS "Road Traffic Safety Directorate" (CSDD) will be allowed to participate in road traffic in Latvia.
Vehicles registered abroad must be declared before entering Latvian territory. This requirement applies to all vehicles from third countries, except those registered in European Union (EU) countries, European Economic Area (EEA) countries, or the Swiss Confederation.
Registration can be completed independently, but for customer convenience, this service is also offered by Bunasta for an additional fee. To place an order, please provide the following information:
- Vehicle’s technical passport.
- Information about the owner or user of the vehicle:
- for individuals: name, surname, identification number (personal code/date of birth);
- for legal entities: company name, registration number.
- The period during which the vehicle will be used in road traffic in Latvia.
- Email address where the registration confirmation will be sent.
If a vehicle registered in a third country commits an administrative offense, the decision will be sent to the person who declared the vehicle. A fine ranging from €55 to €140 may be imposed for an undeclared vehicle.
